Building tips:

Warehouses in theory are a good idea but they take up space you could have an additional barrack in.

If you stick with 6-8 cottages and keep leveling them up as you can this also allows more space for barracks.

You can level cottages one level higher than the level of your town hall.

Later in game wood and iron will be the most expensive resources building a majority of these in your city allows you to sell surplus to buy the lesser expensive food and stone as needed and insures you have plenty of wood and iron to make troops.
